Mitchell is a full-time tutor who loves problem-solving and engaging with all things math. Initially from Ontario, he completed his MSc in Modelling and Computational Science at Ontario Tech in 2013 and then moved to BC, completing his Ph.D in Applied Mathematics at Simon Fraser University (SFU) in 2018. During his academic years Mitchell was always curious and quickly began to talk with professors at the university. By his second year in undergrad he had begun research with a mentor among the professors which continued throughout his time at Ontario Tech. He began tutoring part-time during his third year of undergrad and further roles as a teaching assistant in his MSc and Ph.D helped form his deep interest in helping students succeed. During tutoring Mitchell is perpetually patient and happy to keep trying different perspectives until the student demonstrates they understand. He loves any opportunity to teach by asking questions, often leading the student down a bread trail to come to the idea themselves.
