CHEM 1120 – General Chemistry I is a first-year foundational chemistry course that introduces students to core concepts in atomic and molecular science. Topics include atomic spectroscopy, electron orbitals and periodic trends, chemical bonding theories (including molecular orbital theory), molecular geometries, intermolecular forces, and the properties of macromolecules.
