Introduction to evolution and ecology

BISC 102 – General Biology is an introductory course that lays the foundation for understanding evolutionary and ecological principles that shape life’s diversity on Earth. Through integrated lectures and labs, students explore key concepts such as natural selection and other mechanisms of evolutionary change, phylogeny, genetics, speciation, behavior, species interactions, population ecology, and ecosystem dynamics. BISC 101 and 102 may be taken in either order, and BISC 102 fulfills a breadth-science requirement while preparing students for upper-level study in the biological sciences.
